Danny

Danny is a U.S. Army veteran with a background in Psychological Operations, giving him a unique perspective on communication, human behavior, and how information shapes a story.

On The Darker Why, Danny tackles the facts: what happened, when it happened, what the evidence shows, and how the story unfolded. His military background and natural curiosity make him especially interested in timelines, inconsistencies, competing narratives, and the details that make you stop and ask, “Wait…what?”

Outside of true crime rabbit holes, Danny is a husband, dad, and proud dog dad to two pups. He’s an unapologetic Star Wars fan who loves hockey, reading, and explaining why an obscure piece of Star Wars lore is absolutely relevant to the conversation.

Danny brings military experience, curiosity, humor, and healthy skepticism to The Darker Why—because before you can understand the psychology behind a case, you have to understand what actually happened.

Krystal

Krystal brings the psychological and mental-health lens to The Darker Why. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Licensed Social Worker (LSW) and Clinical Psychology PsyD candidate, she has spent her career working in behavioral health, mental health, and with individuals with complex clinical needs.
On the podcast, Krystal digs into the psychology beneath the headline—exploring mental health, trauma, relationships, risk factors, and the complicated question of why people behave the way they do. She’s especially interested in the places where psychology and real life refuse to fit into a neat explanation.
Outside the podcast, Krystal is a wife, mom of two, and pup mom to three. She’s an avid reader who loves psychological thrillers, twisty mysteries, and any book that keeps her guessing until the end—which probably explains why she’s always looking beneath the surface.
Because for Krystal, the most interesting question usually isn't just what happened?
It's why?

Whitney

Whitney is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Clinical Psychology PsyD Candidate with a passion for understanding the why behind human behavior. On The Darker Why, she brings a behavioral and psychological lens to true crime, exploring the environments, relationships, behavioral patterns, and systems surrounding each case. Rather than simply asking what happened?, Whitney wants to know why?

Outside of psychology, Whitney is a wife, mom to a son, and proud dog mom to two pups. When she isn’t working, studying, or falling down a research rabbit hole she absolutely did not intend to spend three hours exploring, she can usually be found reading or enjoying one of her many cozy hobbies.

Equal parts clinician, researcher, bookworm, and naturally curious human, Whitney believes the most interesting stories are rarely as simple as they first appear—and there’s almost always something darker beneath the surface.
